  • Ownership names must match with owner of the goods’ of shipment on the vehicle title and registration
  • Non-U.S. resident can import a vehicle for a period of up to 12 months as a tourist
  • Owner is required to obtain a permission letter prior to shipping vehicle from the EPA
  • Vehicles imported by non-residents for tourism may not sell or offer vehicle for sale
  • Such vehicle must be exported prior to 12 months or it will be subject to seizure and penalties by Customs
  • Some ports of entry require bond for up to three times the value of the vehicle to ensure the timely export
  • Additional port specific declarations may be required temporary importation.
  • Sale bill or pro-forma invoice with statement of value must include the vehicle’s description such as vehicle identification number (VIN), year of manufacture, model
  • Vehicle models less than 25 years old and not previously titled in the U.S must comply with EPA / DOT regulations
  • Marine engines / gas-powered generators are subject to EPA requirements

  • Rabies vaccination record
  • Veterinary health certificate
  • Importation of pets/animals is subject to health, agriculture, wildlife requirements, quarantine, and prohibitions.
  • Valid rabies vaccination record must accompany dogs arriving from areas that are not free from rabies
  • Rabies certificate may not be required for domestic cats
  • Turtles and monkeys are not given entry into the U.S.

  • To classify an item as antique , the U.S. Customs requires items to be at least 100 years old
  • Recently purchased antique should indicate circa date on the invoice
  • Antiques are duty free.
  • Carpets of Iranian origin used in foreign household for at least 12 months are approved for import
  • Nominal valued paintings can be shipped with household goods shipments

  • Inherited goods can be imported duty free if:
    • Items are over 100 years old and proven through documentation
    • Available for use in owner place of residence for 12 months prior to entry into the United States
    • Does not have to be 12 months prior to the inheritance
  • Importation of food items is discouraged
  • Food questionnaire form must be completed to import food items
  • Ivory items, skins, feathers, shells are regulated by Fish and Wildlife
  • These items require CITES permits or prohibited from being imported
  • Permits cannot be issued once the shipment has left the origin country
  • The destination agent will need to know common and scientific names and country of origin to determine the requirement of permit
  • Weapons like Guns previously owned and shipped from the U.S. can be imported
  • If the owner does not have registration then sales receipts, export OBL, inventory or a declaration can be provided to the Customs
  • Weapons purchased overseas can be imported using a Federal Firearms permit holder
  • ATF permit filing should be applied for 6 weeks in advance of the arrival of the shipment
  • Owner of the goods should consult U.S. agent when shipping weapons and provide facts regarding how and where weapons were acquired
  • Not all types of weapons can be imported

We were very please with our experience with Across International Relocation Singapore. They provided us a competitive rate for door to door service. They were very professional from picking up our shipment, providing us updates on our shipment and with our delivery. There was a delay but they kept us upto date and were great at communicating with any forms that were needed.
