Documents Required

Documents Required For Used Household Goods / Personal Effects

  • Passport
  • Residence permit / residency visa
  • Employment visa with UAE entry stamp
  • Bill of lading / Air waybill
  • Packing list in English
  • Letter from Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get exemption from the payment of Customs duties
  • Copy of diplomatic card
  • Letter of authorization
  • All documents must be provided prior to shipment arrival on port
  • Without residence visa or passport, shipments will not be cleared
  • Import shipments will be inspected by Customs authorities and this incurs charges
  • Importation of household goods / personal effects into the UAE is exempted from Customs duties
  • Punishment like fines, imprisonment, or both will be imposed if prohibited items are found during the Customs inspection
  • Import duties are charged according to the costs, insurance, and freight (CIF) value of shipment
  • Import Duties on new items are changed at 5% of the value of the item
  • VAT is charged on total shipment value at 5%
  • It may take 4 – 5 work days for sea shipments and 3 – 4 days for air shipments
  • Shipments that are not cleared within 5 days from the arrival date at port will not have free port storage period granted
  • Shipments that arrive before the weekend i.e. Friday and Saturday will automatically lose two days of Customs clearance

  • Authorization letter
  • Certificate of origin / registration card from origin country
  • Vehicle certificate must include details of engine number, color, year of production and others
  • Commercial invoice / purchase invoice copy
  • Ownership proof
  • Length of ownership is not applicable when deciding duties
  • Duties on new items at 5% and VAT on total shipment value at 5% are charged on all motor vehicles / goods
  • Vehicle clearance certificate is issued by the customs in 2 – 3 days
  •  This clearance certificate is required for registration with traffic department.
  •  In case of port congestion shipment clearance may take 1 – 2 weeks from the arrival date
  •  Owner bringing cars must provide a copy of UAE residence visa
  • Vehicle can be older than 10 years with approval of local agent
  • Vehicles with tinted glass restricted for import
  • Only left handed cars are allowed
  • Vehicle details required for Customs clearance:
    • Model of the vehicles / model number
    • Vehicle color
    • Year of manufacture
    • Current market value
    •  Engine and chassis number
    •  Weight of vehicle

  • Passport of the owner
  • UAE residence visa of the owner
  •  Vaccination certificate
  •  Veterinary health certificate
  •  Permit to Import

Singapore to UAE move reviews

Very professional service. Pack up and unpack were especially well done. There were a few issues with customs and a few additional charges but this wasn't the courier's fault. Overall very good service. Maybe not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for!

When I posted my requirement online, Across Relo was the first one respond to my enquiry. One of the staff particularly reached out to me personally. This gave me a positive first impression that they are serious about my requirement. He shared his email and contact details so that I can reach out to him in whichever manner convenient to me. As compared to all other companies who reached out to me, Across's staff approach stands out right at the top.
Explaining the process
I had a very short period of time (one week) as my decision to relocate was quite sudden. The staff expressed his confidence in executing this relocation comfortably and that it would be hassle free for me as well despite such a short notice. He explained me the process step by step and ensured all my queries were answered.
Commercial Discussion
Due to lack of time, I could not give the staff the luxury of coming to my place for assessment for giving me the quote. Based on my telephonic discussion, he advised me on the commercial terms and explained the rationale for the charges. His professionalism and patient explanation, made my decision much easier. Even though, after the packing I realised I had much more belongings than initially thought, the staff gave me a fair offer for the additional weight.
Packing
The team of packers were extremely swift and packed everything within a couple of hours. I was surprised that they able to pack them all in a compact manner. My move manager ensured that the best team members were sent across for this job.
Transportation & Delivery
While I moved to UAE fairly quickly, I did not have a permanent location for the next 4 weeks. Across team member patiently followed up regularly for my confirmation so that he could send the shipment. Once they got my confirmation, they shipped my belongings at the earliest possible date. They also have a good delivery partner here in UAE who managed to deliver the shipment efficiently. I will definitely recommend Across Relocation Services to my network in Singapore.
